Artificial Intelligence

AI refers to Artificial Intelligence. It’s a branch of Computer Science. AI refers to the ability of a machine or a computer program to think and learn. In other terms, AI mainly wants machines to think and work like humans. Face detection and recognition, Google maps are some of the examples of Artificial Intelligence.

History

Intelligent robots and artificial beings first appeared in the ancient Greek myths of Antiquity. Aristotle’s development of the syllogism and it’s use of deductive reasoning was a key moment in mankind’s quest to understand its own intelligence. While the roots are long and deep, the history of artificial intelligence as we think of it today spans less than a century. The following is a quick look at some of the most important events in AI.

Why do we need AI?

Artificial Intelligence enhances the speed, precision and effectiveness of human efforts. In financial institutions, AI techniques can be used to identify which transactions are likely to be fraudulent, adopt fast and accurate credit scoring, as well as automate manually intense data management tasks.

Technology Institutions

IITs, NITs, and IIITs, among the country’s leading technology institutions, have the potential to be the birthplace of AI researchers and start-ups. Indian start-ups are rising and developing AI solutions in education, health, and financial services has created more room for precision. India has a major stake in the AI revolution as the world’s fastest-growing economy and second-largest population. Among the country’s leading technology institutions, IITs, NITs, and IIITs have the potential to be the birthplace of AI researchers and start-ups.

Development

To solve social problems, Indian start-ups are growing and developing AI solutions in education, health, and financial services. In general, India’s digital footprint has expanded dramatically. The government is also pushing forward with various projects aimed at improving technological infrastructure. Various agencies and artificial intelligence institutes, as well as various industries, are creating policy frameworks and initiatives to instil such abilities.

AI at Homes

We are surrounded by AI. We use devices that are based on Artificial Intelligence all the time without even knowing it. For example, we use “OK GOOGLE” or “ALEXA” or “CORTANA” all the time to set alarms, to set reminders, to log our activities, and what not. These assistants use AI and Machine Learning. They can also perform a variety of tasks like playing a song, asking a question, Buying something online, etc. Other than this AI is being used in Cyber Security, the Manufacturing sector, and many organizations. It is expected that by the year 2025, the market size of AI is going to be 8 times bigger than the market size of the current year. Also, in a study conducted by a famous multi-national company, it is predicted that AI has the potential to add one trillion to India’s economy by the year 2035. With the help of more research and support from the concerned authority, AI can easily become one of the leading technology in India, which will help in the development of various sectors in India.

Uses of AI

 Education

Artificial Intelligence can be used for various reasons in Education. It can help in increasing the effectiveness of the way they teach via various AI applications such as text translation systems, real-time message to speech, automating repeated jobs such as taking attendance, automating grading system, basic doubt solving using chatbots, etc.

Chatbots

Chatbots are another useful invention that is based on AI. Chatbots are now used in various websites and applications, for helping the customer navigate through their website, and routing the customers to proper concerned people on their website. It is also used for solving basic doubts of the customers regarding their website/application.

Transportation

There is great scope of Artificial Intelligence in the transportation sector as well. AI is used in the transportation system as well. Some of the examples are Autonomous Vehicles, Improvement Of Public Safety, Traffic Management, Analyzing Traffic Patterns, etc.

Automated Grading

AI is also used in the automatic grading system. It is trained to grade the essays, test papers, assignments, and other tasks which are repetitive for teachers. Although, many users complain that this system is not 100% proper and is faulty.

Healthcare

The Healthcare system in India is the most active and challenging sector in India. There are many challenges like affordability, convenience but especially the shortage of doctors and services like qualified nurses, technicians, and infrastructure. This is where AI is used to compensate for the shortages. AI is used in fields like patient data analytics, assisted or automated diagnosis and prescription, medical imaging insights, etc.

Agriculture

In India, a notable population depends on agriculture for their living. The problem of farmers in India is not extremely great as they depend on conventional farming methods. In agriculture, AI is being used in monitoring crop productivity and soil fertility, predictive agricultural analytics, and ensuring supply chain efficiencies, and many other ideas are under development.
